JERRY ZAIDEN
President of Camburg Engineering and Camburg Racing Team
Growing up as a Southern California surfer, snowboarder, and all around gearhead Jerry Zaiden shares a lot in common with the SoCal born and bred Scosche executives. They rely on him to thoroughly road- and off-road-test many of our new products. In particular, Jerry’s input on our PowerSports mounts by providing real-user feedback has been invaluable. As a fellow business-owner, racer, Scosche Ambassador and friend, Jerry helps to make our products ever more innovative, more useful and user-friendly, as well as incredibly visible and kinda cool.
How much has growing up in Southern California influenced your lifestyle and brand?
I feel growing up in southern California had a 100% Influence into where I am today. Here we have everything at our fingertips and it’s given me major experiences from surfing, snowboarding, and mountain biking, then on to race cars to off-road. The SoCal automotive lifestyle is second to none. Within a half-mile radius of the Camburg shop you’ll find Chip Foose’s shop, Gunther Works, BBI Autosport, and more.
What first drew you to off-road racing as opposed to other forms of racing?
Growing up surfing in Huntington Beach there was some sort of connection with, and pull to off-road racing. When I was 16 years old I got a Toyota pickup truck and wanted to trick it out but there were only a few places to buy parts. One of the catalogs I had was from Downey Off-road, which sold parts for Ivan (Iron Man) Stewart, the legendary off-road badass. And what kid didn’t look up to him!
Camburg Engineering and Camburg Racing, which came first?
We formed Camburg Engineering Inc. in 1997. We started racing a few years later, but we built racing parts from day one.
Camburg Engineering manufactures off-road suspension systems, which parts do you make in-house?
We try to do as much in-house as possible, that way we have 100% control of our quality.
What has inspired you most in running your company, and the brands you represent?
Passion, enjoyment, and having goals.
Favorite build, and why?
We have done so many amazing fun builds but I would have to say our first KINETIK Trophy Truck. That build was a major goal of mine. We designed and built our Trophy Truck and raced it in the 2009 Baja 1000.
Favorite build, and why?
Passion, enjoyment, and having goals.
Favorite off-road event?
This is a very hard question because there are a few amazing events, including: The Mint 400, Vegas to Reno, King of the Hammers, and the Baja 1000. I enjoy them all but so far I would have to say the Baja 1000 because it is the Grand Daddy event!
What is your dream vehicle? Does it already exist, or are you building it?
We are seriously dreaming every day of what’s next. Currently, we are designing and building an All Wheel Drive Trophy Truck. This is the pinnacle of where off-road performance currently is. I really can’t wait to drive it!
What’s next for Camburg? And for you?
We’re focused on taking the Camburg brand to the next level. We are currently building a special vehicle suspension for the military, as well as prototypes for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). We are also looking for more physical space so that we can grow our businesses and that will also allow us to bring more new technology in-house

JERRY’S FAVORITE
SCOSCHE GEAR
Favorite and most used Scosche products and why?
My most used products from Scosche are the MagicMount XL Magnetic Mount, the Charging Stations, and the Power Cables. My favorite product is the BoomBottleMM portable speaker because if I’m using it that means I am floating in the water somewhere listening to music and just relaxing.
